The Etiquette of Social Media vs the Mud C*nt

I gotta rant about some shit. Yes, it's long. No, I don't feel bad about it. If you can't hang, move along. For the rest? Top off, strap in and smoke 'em if ya got 'em...
**********************************
What is it with people posting super shitty things on Slavebook feeds not their own? Comments on social media intended for insult and nothing more...Why would people feel justified lobbing their faecal encrusted opinion-grenades with so little concern or care for where and how or on whom it lands? Opinions, I am compelled to mention, often closely resemble buttholes. Everybody's got one & some are more, ahem, shall we say... unkempt than others? *shudders*

Just because one feels righteously perturbed, are passionately offended or believe the post in question is simply bereft of one's singular input, does not in and of itself then provide one with unfettered moral impunity to proceed apace; albeit in the fashion of the aforementioned buttholes. Unless of course, you subscribe to the erroneous belief that your Constitutionally protected right of Free Speech entitles you to inflict your anger or unhappiness on others with freedom from the potential consequences inherent therein. Or perhaps you believe your obviously more well-informed interpretation of their truth is all that stands between them and the "Pit of SuperDuper Wrongness". Seriously?

Free Speech 101: Free speech is a Constitutionally protected right that disallows us from being prosecuted or persecuted for speaking our truth. 'Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948, states that: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference... Although different scholars view unprotected speech in different ways, there are basically nine categories that aren't covered:

Obscenity
Fighting words
Defamation (including libel and slander)
Child pornography
Perjury
Blackmail
Incitement to imminent lawless action
True threats
Solicitations to commit crimes

Some experts also would add treason, if committed verbally, to that list. Plagiarism of copyrighted material is also not protected.' (All thanks to Lord Google and Scribe Wikipedia, for a succinct definition)

Yes, you have the RIGHT to be heard. No matter how insulting, narrow-minded, vitriolic, prejudiced, hostile or self-aggrandized you might present. But newsflash folks, the above-mentioned types of speech are NOT Constitutionally PROTECTED forms. And tho it is impossible to avoid offending everyone, I think it IS realistic to expect that folks are capable of comporting themselves with a little bit more self-restraint, respect and common fuckin decency. One would think.

See, I am aware that I choose who is on my friends' list, and by virtue of an "unfriend" and even a "block" button, I decide who STAYS on my friend list. I also choose whose postings season my feed and in what fashion. It is NOT their job to avoid offending me with their perspectives. It is MY job to respect their right to express themselves in (what I consider is) a decidedly personal tho public forum. Let me put it this way. My feed/blog is my yard. I am the proverbial shot-caller in my yard. I do NOT always appreciate the laissez-faire way in which some seem to feel it is acceptable to shit in my yard. Or in the yards of others for that matter.

I'm going to propose the establishment of an etiquette for potentially incendiary social media interactions that I believe better befits those of us who highly value mutual respect & personal-boundary consciousness. Or rather those who would prefer to keep the cross-purpose poo-slinging to a minimum. If one desires to comment in a fashion that may be defined as belonging to one of the unprotected groups of speech mentioned above, or even to deconstruct in a negative light the postings of others; I Not So Humbly submit one chooses to withhold and instead, copy, paste, even link or tag (in the event it is found necessary etc), the post in question along with your commentary, into your own feed. Thereinto enjoy a singular satisfaction provided by an actively respect-based modality of self-expression. A respect if consistently provided could, in turn, reap you the recipient, a wealth of same.

If all you want to do is start shit so as to revel in the discomfort, bathe in the splatter and delight in the lamentations of the now properly offended...good luck with that. I have better shit to do. Like farm navel lint and count elbow wrinkles.

I have to date managed to muddle through this emotionally frenetic sociopolitical mine-scape I find myself often thrust into as of late, without necessity yet demanding I block any friends or loved ones. Frankly, I'd like to keep it that way. This is not to say that I discourage disparate opinions, healthy debate or naturally occurring disagreements. I delight in a good argument. I'm just not interested in malicious advice to self-harm or to be identified as a "mud cunt" because I don't see eye to eye on some such nonsense.

I am neither a liberal nor a conservative, neither Red nor Blue.
I find Trump endlessly embarrassing & morally reprehensible.
I also consider Hilary traitorous, vile and treacherous in extremis.
I can think of at least a dozen definitively meritorious folk without even straining a neuron that would make stronger choices, lead more effectively and act as a much more honourable representative while still in their pj's. I blame the Deep State and dark agendas. But I digress...

That being said,
I believe in equal rights for ALL people groups.
I believe in the sacredness of ALL human life and in the continual eradication of empirically baseless bigoted and prejudiced ideology through education and informed mature social discourse.
I am anti-war, pro-LGBT equal rights/marriage, pro-gun ownership, anti-abortion, but VERY pro-choice. (free will peeps!)
I support the right to euthanasia (for the most part) under the "My body-My choice" proviso.
I am decidedly anti-prohibition in general, more of that "my body-my choice" stuff. Like compulsory helmets and seat belts for goddamn grownups. I mean really... Eff that.
I believe in freedom of and from religion, in the separation of Church and State, however poorly it is actualized.

I am an American citizen, the descended daughter of Northern European immigrants and the First People. I do not begrudge anyone anywhere the desire to immigrate here. But I DO believe in respect for the laws we created around that process. I find it rather offensive that folk would endeavour to slide in under the radar, benefit from all the hard-won wealth of socio/eco/political freedoms/benefits, only to then excuse themselves from a Patriot's business of actively participating in the stewardship of its construct i.e. taxes etc. Exceptions of emergency notwithstanding.  These exceptions being in reference to refugees and asylum seekers for those playing the home game and not in my head...

Still a proud patriot, I grieve the horrors of my antiquarian government's consistent historical and even more sadly current processes around Civil/Human Rights; i.e. the ongoing not-so-covert subjugation of women, the caging of illegal aliens, the not-so-distant echoes of slavery, or the centuries continued betrayal & dispossession of the First People's et al.
However, I strongly withhold consent to the trendy chokehold of "white guilt" that is administered so readily nor will I ever accept the notion of white privilege as it has been described in relation to me. There is but one race. The human race. And not a stainless soul resides amongst us. Racial hatred of ANY form has no place in an even marginally educated or civilized society. Period.

I reject neo-marxism, postmodern social constructionism, nationalism and class prejudice out of hand as outmoded and in some cases, archaic ideologies PROVEN historically to bear poison fruit.
I am no gender binarist insofar as it relates to self-identity, but feel no fidelity whatsoever to support ANY philosophy that strives to or encourages further division and reflexive labelling.
I believe in equity of opportunity. Not forced equity of outcome.
I believe in personal freedom, personal responsibility, mutual respect and Good Stewardship to my patch of planet.

Much like you, I do not require anyone's approval, acceptance or validation for a belief system I have worked hard to foster and sustain.

You don't like some of my stuff? Feel free to complain. Just don't expect me to feel in ANY way compelled to graciously host or entertain your input if you act the very model of a modern Major-General fresh off the USS Douchcanoe.

AND, I'm spent.
